Acupuncture for Pain Management

According to Chinese medicine, pain in the body can manifest due to many underlying causes, such as:

  • Physical trauma
  • Overexertion
  • Acute stress physical, emotional, mental
  • Surgery, prolonged illness
  • Inflammation, edema
  • Invasion of wind, cold, heat, damp
  • Deficiencies and degeneration of the body

How acupuncture and Chinese medicine treats pain:

Pain anywhere in the body, whether from physical impact causing the trauma or due to other causes, is the consequence of obstruction to the energy flow and blood flow in the body. Because energy and blood cannot flow, pain is produced in the areas of obstruction. Where energy and blood stagnate depends on the locality and meridians being impacted. Pain can manifest anywhere along numerous energy channels in the body and is not confined only to the local area(s) where an impact occurred.

According to our treatment principles, once the obstructions in the body are removed which allows energy and blood to free flow again - pain ceases to exist. For most pain conditions, we treat by combining acupuncture and Chinese herbs - together the synergistic power of acupuncture and herbs maximizes the effectiveness and potency of the treatment as well as quickening the healing process.
